My Kenyan friend Joan (pronounced Jo-ann) was a teacher in a slum outside of Eldoret, Western Kenya.
Joan’s funeral was two weeks ago. She died after a brief battle with cancer. She was 32.
When I visited her classroom for several days 10 months ago, I was struck by her joy, her liveliness and her humble servant’s heart. Her students reflected her leadership.
Please take a moment to read about her story (the link to a CRF blog post below), a orphan who served orphans. There is a memorial fund that has been set up in her memory. The fund continues to provide for orphans, as Joan did in her life.
