Origins: Fake Church
Another Origins post. I am working on some new stuff next week, I promise. But alas, until then this blog post shall be of one of my first images. You may recognize them from my old website. They didn’t make the cut this time around.
My dad and I went out to Santa Fe one week to do a National Geographic Workshop and I visited Eaves Ranch for the first of many, many visits. The ranch is the site of many old western movies and the church was a fake, nevertheless, it was a fully constructed building.
These images were the first images I made with a tilt-shift lens. After that daring move to use one I found a love for tilt-shift work; particularly Keith Carter’s work.
Lesson: Try something that intimidates you; a quirky lens, subject, angle, whatever gets you thinking.
